At a Chamber of Commerce meeting last week, Idaho State University President Robert Wagner told Idaho Falls business leaders that ISU is dedicated to helping all students succeed, and that partnerships throughout East Idaho are critical to making sure the University is preparing students for the future workforce.

“I want you to know that we’re going to be here. We’re going to be present,” he said. “We’re going to do more and provide more.”

More than 800 students at Idaho State named Idaho Falls as their preferred campus when registering, and more than 1,000 students took courses from the Idaho Falls campus last year. In today’s climate, it is vital to provide all students with the tools they need to meet their goals and workforce needs. Institutions like Idaho State University must adapt to the needs of a diverse student population, Wagner said.

“I know the saying ‘be everything to everyone’ usually has a negative connotation, but we need to be that in higher ed,” he said.

Wagner said Idaho State is dedicated to providing services and education that students in Idaho Falls need. Recently, the University hired Jeremy Green as chief campus administrator for eastern and southern Idaho, a newly-created position designed to address needs in Idaho Falls and Twin Falls. In addition to providing more student services in Idaho Falls, Wagner cited partnerships with College of Eastern Idaho and the Idaho National Laboratory that will continue to help provide students and the community with a comprehensive experience.
