Discover Innovative Printmaking with Steve Garst at Free Virtual Workshop
January 6, 2025
Idaho State University invites the community to a unique virtual workshop, Printing Outside of the Pressroom with Steve Garst, on Saturday, February 1, from 10 a.m. to noon. This free event is perfect for artists, hobbyists, and anyone curious about exploring creative printmaking techniques.
This engaging session will showcase accessible and non-toxic printmaking methods using materials like LEGO, linoleum, and craft letters. Participants will learn innovative modular design and letterpress techniques that are easy to clean and ideal for sparking creativity.
Steve Garst is an artist, teacher, and creator of the Provisional Press project. He has over 15 years of experience in letterpress, printmaking, and book arts and has been teaching at universities in the Midwest for 10 years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he created a printing press kit to help students print at home. Over 50 universities now use the kit, which started as a simple DIY idea to meet the needs of classes during social distancing.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be inspired and learn how to create prints from the comfort of your own home.
