Dakota Clark named CPI Intern of the Month

February 3, 2025

Dakota Clark, January's CPI of the Month, is a senior Mechanical Engineering student working as a space planning intern in the ISU Facilities Architecture Department. Clark’s duties involve assisting the University Architect and University Planner with the day-to-day operations of the department including using AutoCAD 3D modeling software to work on drafting projects and preliminary drawings as well as conducting field studies and surveys on the spaces on campus.

“One of the highlights of my internship has been gaining insight into the inner workings of Idaho State University and engaging with individuals from various departments,” Clark said. “I have gained valuable experience in drafting, data management, spatial analysis, and project management
which will undoubtedly benefit me in my future career.”

In addition to the technical aspects of his internship, Clark is also gaining valuable durable skills such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and time management.

“Space on campus can be a very sensitive topic,” said Rafael Cabello Sandoval, ISU’s University Planner and Clark’s supervisor. “Dakota has repeatedly proven that he has everything it takes to provide quality customer service, finding the balance between addressing customer demands, ISU's leadership strategic goals, and following our Space Allocation Policy.”

Originally from Rigby, Idaho, Clark expects to graduate in May 2025. After completing his degree, he hopes to pursue a career in mechanical engineering design, where he can apply his skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the community. In his spare time, Clark enjoys spending
time outdoors, engaging in activities such as skiing, backpacking, running, and rock climbing.
