Ken Burns Documentary The American Buffalo at Idaho Falls Campus

Idaho State University-Idaho Falls and the Museum of Idaho are proud to showcase a short screener of the Ken Burns documentary, The American Buffalo, in the Tingey Administration Building Auditorium on Thursday, November 6. This event is free and open to the public. 

In the spirit of preserving our nation's beautiful lands and animals for future generations, the film will be followed by short presentations of local preservation work by the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, ISU, and the Museum of Idaho (MOI).

Original Territories and Historical Research Manager at the Language and Cultural Preservation Department of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, Nolan Brown, will present History of Newe Kuchu [bison] & The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, originally exhibited at the Tribal Buffalo Summit in 2023. 

Head of Special Collections & University Archives, Ellen Ryan, will discuss ISU's preservation work. The documentary features a photo that is housed in the Manuscript Collection, as described in this September 2024 ISU Magazine article

MOI's Curator, Kristina Frandson, will present on the preservation work of the Museum and will showcase their historical photo collection.

This event promises to be an insightful exploration of our nation's invaluable land and animal resources, local history, and the tireless work of individuals working to preserve that history from behind the scenes. Invite your friends and enjoy free popcorn and soda, thanks to the Idaho Falls Student Activities Board.
