ISU Meridian Students Recognize Importance of Legislative Advocacy

November 13, 2025

The Meridian chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) held a student-led legislative advocacy event November 10 featuring guidance from communication sciences and disorders faculty on effective advocacy strategies and a keynote from Idaho Speech and Hearing Association (ISHA) President Amy Hardy.

Students then practiced delivering advocacy messages on key issues affecting the field in Idaho, including support for higher education, student loan relief, improved client access to healthcare, and adequate reimbursement rates for local speech, language, and hearing service providers.

The event highlighted the growing role of student leaders in advancing statewide advocacy efforts.
