Honoring the Legacy of H.F. Magnuson with Dedication of Alumni Suites
October 27, 2025

Idaho State University celebrated the enduring legacy of Harry F. Magnuson with the dedication of the Magnuson Suite, marking a new chapter in alumni engagement and connection. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on October 23, brought together ISU leadership, alumni, and community members to honor Magnuson’s lasting impact and the history of the former Magnuson Alumni House, which served the ISU Alumni Association from 1976 to 2023.
Originally purchased through a fundraiser led by Magnuson himself, who contributed the initial $20,000 for restoration, the historic home at 554 S. 7th Avenue became a hub of activity and a welcoming space for generations of Bengals. Though the original house has now closed, its spirit of belonging continues through the newly dedicated Magnuson Suite, ensuring that alumni remain at the heart of campus life.
“The Magnuson House was a symbol of belonging for all ISU Bengals,” said Stephanie Adams, president of the ISU Alumni Association Board. She noted that while the original home served as the university’s “front porch” for decades, the new Magnuson Suite will continue that welcoming tradition carrying forward the spirit of connection that defined the original house.
Speakers at the event included ISU President Robert Wagner; Stephanie Smith, vice president for university advancement; and Adams, who each recognized Magnuson’s extraordinary generosity and the role he played in shaping ISU’s alumni community.
A 1944 ISU graduate and World War II Navy V-12 student, Harry F. Magnuson (1923–2009) went on to become a North Idaho mining magnate and lifelong Bengal supporter. His legacy of leadership and philanthropy continues to serve students and alumni alike.
