One of Idaho’s largest spring triathlons, hosted by students and faculty from the Idaho State University Department of Human Performance and Sport Studies (HPSS), will be returning for its 17th year on April 12-13.

The annual Bengal Triathlon features triathlon, duathlon and 5K options and attracts nearly 400 participants every year. Held on the ISU campus and organized by HPSS students, the Bengal Triathlon is an exciting race suited for competitors from all walks of life. The triathlon consists of a 700-yard pool swim, a 13-mile bike, and a 3-mile run. Duathletes participate in the bike and run portions of the event, and 5K participants just complete the run. The swim portion of the triathlon takes place on Friday and seeds the time trial start for the bike and run portions of the event. Competitors in the triathlon can take on the challenge individually or as a group, which can be either 2-person or 3-person teams.

Registration for the Bengal Triathlon is open now, with all race levels welcome to participate. Children under 14 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times during the bike portion of the race. Those who register before March 22 will receive a sweatshirt that commemorates the event.
