Marissa Merrill Named CPI of the Month

June 12, 2023

Marissa Merrill, a student in the Nuclear Operations Technology program, was named the June CPI of the month.

Merrill recently completed her internship at Idaho State University’s Energy Systems Technology Center (ESTEC). She met with many prospective students through official ISU outreach activities, recruitment events, as well as specific community groups and individual student tour requests that come directly to myself or my program. Her efforts resulted in an increase in student interest in the Nuclear Operations Technology program.

”Marissa worked to formalize a Student Ambassador Program across all the ESTEC programs, and provide mentoring to other students interns to help them provide better support for outreach and recruitment efforts within their majors,” said Mackenzie Gorham, Nuclear Operations Technology Coordinator and Merrill’s supervisor. “I think her efforts have been outstanding.”

Merrill graduated in May 2023 and started working for Idaho National Laboratories as a Nuclear Facility Research Technician directly after graduation. Her internship provided her with direct experience in her career field and helped her land a job right after graduation.

“This internship not only gave me hands-on experience, but it helped me practice public speaking as well,” Merrill said.
