ISU’s Gender Resource Center Hosts Anti-Human Trafficking Symposium

January 17, 2023

The ISU Gender Resource Center will host its 2023 Anti-Human Trafficking Symposium on January 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Wood and Little Wood River Rooms of the Pond Student Union.

Human trafficking spans the United States and occurs in every state, including Idaho. There is a network of people that target individuals and can reach victims through a variety of means. The industry is growing in profitability, making human trafficking appealing to many and increasing the number of young people falling victim to traffickers.

The symposium will feature presentations from a variety of experts and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Pocatello Police Department, Family Service Alliance, and ISU to collaborate on strengthening the response to the crimes of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and human trafficking on campus. A full agenda may be viewed at isu.edu/anti-human-trafficking.

The Pocatello and Chubbuck communities are invited to join this important conversation about the very real and growing threat that human trafficking poses to human rights.

This event is free and open to everyone, including service providers and community members. Parking will be free in Lot #1, next to the Pond Student Union.
