Graduate students from Idaho State University’s Athletic Administration Master’s program recently assisted at the National Football Foundation’s (NFF) Fifth Annual William V. Campbell Trophy Summit at Stanford University.

This event brings together the top past scholar athletes from across the country with the goal of sharing insights about success, leadership and personal growth. Attendees represented 155 colleges and universities from all divisions and included industry and corporate executives, physicians, university presidents and more.

During the Summit, ISU students Dallin Fryar, Derek Fryar, and Dylan Bohne gained invaluable, first-hand experience as invited participants at the Summit. They attended leadership workshops, networking socials, and team building activities, while also being tasked with managing external communications for the NFF. They also met and interviewed a number of successful former athletes, including Steve Young, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback and NFL Hall of Fame member, John Lynch, the current 49ers General Manager and Hall of Fame defensive back, and Alex Smith, a former NFL quarterback. They were also able to network with current leaders in business and industry, including Admiral William H. McRaven (US Navy), Jonathan Rosenberg (Senior Vice President of Products at Google), Brad Smith (President of Marshall University and former CEO of Intuit), and Mark Flynn (CEO of MWF Advisors and former President of GSV Capital). This exposure provided them with the practical skills and knowledge required to work in a highly competitive industry upon graduation.

Dr. Caroline Faure, Chair and Professor for the ISU Human Performance and Sport Studies Department, first partnered with the National Football Foundation (NFF) in 2021. Since then, ISU Athletic Adminsitration students have assisted the NFF with the College Football Hall of Fame inductions and also with the Campbell Trophy Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada in both 2021 and 2022. These prestigious partnerships and real-world scenarios have been highly beneficial to students as they graduate and lead meaningful careers in the sports industry.
