Master of Occupational Therapy Students Named for Mayo Clinic Internships

April 7, 2022

Earlier this year, the ISU Master of Occupational Therapy program was invited by the Mayo Clinic to submit names of four potential students to the Mayo Clinic Fieldwork lottery, and two Idaho State University students are being offered fieldwork opportunities for the 2023 calendar year.

The Mayo Clinic uses a lottery system to pick schools they will offer fieldwork opportunities to. ISU was picked in the lottery to submit student names for the 2023 calendar year, and then a lottery system is used to select students for placement. Karin Frederickson and Alexa Bowns were selected. Bowns has been offered a position on the neuro rehab unit from January 3- March 24, 2023. Frederickson has been offered a position in an acute care facility from May 8-July 28, 2023.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to do my occupational therapy fieldwork at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, as it is a prestigious hospital known for providing high quality care to patients,” Bowns said. “I know a fieldwork placement here will provide me with learning opportunities I may not otherwise have and help me to become a better practitioner for the clients I serve in the future."
