Health Occupations Chair Dr. Henry Oh Presents at International Congress in South America

Dr. Henry Oh, Department Chair of Health Occupations at the College of Technology, presented at the International Congress of Nursing, Biochemistry and Pharmacy (Congreso Internacional Multidisciplinario de Las Carreras de Enfermeria, Bioquimica Y Farmacia) in South America on April 27 and 28, 2022.

The event was hosted by the Universidad de Aquino in Bolivia, the largest private university with nearly 40,000 students.

The university has a College of Medicine and a state-of-the-art digitized Martin Dockweiler University Hospital. Dr. Oh was one of the international speakers invited to participate in this event where he represented North America. He delivered his topic on “Respiratory Care of Patients with COVID-19 Infection” in three campus locations including Santa Cruz (main campus) and La Paz (regional campus). He translated and delivered his presentations in Spanish.

His topic focused on the effects of cytokines storm, the development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and initial ventilator management of intubated patients with COVID infection. Each of the campuses of the university presented “Reconocimientos” or recognitions to Dr. Oh. Dr. Oh’s other recent presentations include “Pathophysiology of Pneumonia” hosted by the New Mexico State Society of American Medical Technologists in Albuquerque on April 23, 2022; and “How the Brain Works” (online) hosted by Trinity University of Asia (TUA) in the Philippines on April 7, 2022.
