Celebrate Social Work Month

March 2, 2022

March is Social Work Month! Social work is a growing profession, and there is an immense need for social workers.

The theme for Social Work Month 2022 is: The Time is Right for Social Work

Please come out and join us in the following activities (open to everyone):

  • Participate in a film screening of The Florida Project, a movie touching on topics of child welfare and childhood poverty, on Monday, April 4, 2022, at 7 pm in the Bengal Theater.
  • This showing will be followed by a panel discussion of childhood poverty, child welfare, and addiction, with Jenna Thompson (Child Welfare Scholars Coordinator), Robert Rieske (Associate Professor of Psychology), and Ines W. Jindra (BASW Program Director) as panelists.
  • Happy Hour at Goody’s, on Friday, March 11, from 3-5 pm. Come and enjoy the company of fellow students and professors, and have some treats at Goody’s. Any student interested is welcome! (You don’t need to be a social work student to participate). Food will be provided, and you only need to buy your own drink.
  • We are also holding a Food drive for Benny’s Pantry, ending on Friday, March 18. Boxes for non-perishable foods are located in Jamie Gross’ (LA 307, 208-282, 2170) and JoMax Christensen’s office (LA 307, 208-282-3377) in the Kegel Liberal Arts Building. Please stop by and donate an item!
