Bank of Idaho’s Swing for the Green golf education fundraising series will be held for the first time this summer in Pocatello; the tournament is set for Monday August 8, 2022, at the Riverside Golf Course, benefiting ISU student scholarships.

"After last summer's success, we’ve realized just how invested our small business clients are in our work for local college education funds," said Bank of Idaho President and CEO Jeff Newgard. “This year we’re looking for ways to grow our endowment success outside of Idaho Falls and into more of the communities we serve — ISU is an excellent community-based partner with scholarships helping financially challenged students in Pocatello and across state."

Bank of Idaho led the way in east Idaho, creating their initial CEI Education Endowment Fund in 2017; at that time, establishing and pledging proceeds from the new golf tournament to be deposited directly to the fund. Each year the endowments have grown, having presented $57,000 to CEI in 2021, with over $100,000 of funds currently in the endowment account. Proceeds from corporate sponsors and registered teams go directly toward scholarships for CEI students.

“All funds raised from the Swing for the Green event will be used to help provide scholarships for students in need by helping them to pursue their dream of attending college at Idaho State University,” said Tom Putnam, Executive Director, ISU College and Career Readiness, “Recipients of these funds are students who face barriers and challenges in attending college, such as financial hardship, being a first-generation college student, mental or physical disabilities, and more.”

The 25-team tournament, will be a day to remember featuring Backswing Golf’s LPGA professionals, lunch, a derby shootout, live auction and exclusive player swag.
