Diversity Resource Center to Host Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebrations, Service Opportunities

The Diversity Resource Center has several activities to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. including a march, program and service opportunities. 

 

  • Winter Coat Drive: TRIO Veterans and the Diversity Resource Center invite you to donate hats, mittens and coats for members of the community In recognition of our celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. and our week of service. Collection boxes will be located in the Rendezvous and Pond Student Union buildings. Donations will be accepted now until Monday, Jan. 16 at 4 p.m.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Poster Make & Take: On Friday, Jan.13, drop by the Diversity Resource Center in Rendezvous 129 from 3-5 p.m. to make a sign to carry during the Monday, January 16, Martin Luther King, Jr. march. The activity is free, and poster supplies are provided.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration National Day of Service Project: Honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. by serving the Aid for Friends homeless shelter Monday, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. Transportation is available, and lunch will be provided. Idaho State's MLK Jr. Day of Service is open to all students, faculty, and staff.  For questions or more information, call (208) 282-2794.   • Martin Luther King, Jr. March and Celebration:  The Idaho State University Diversity Resource Center invites the campus and community to join them on Monday, Jan. 16 for its annual celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Speakers include ASISU president, Zandrew Webb, and ISU President Kevin Satterlee. The keynote speaker for this year's event is ISU Alumnus and current Assistant Track and Field coach, Treyshon Malone. The march begins at Holt Arena at 1 p.m.
