Public Safety is pleased to announce that Jessy Sears will be joining the department as the new Emergency Manager. Sears comes to Idaho State University from the Southeastern Idaho Public Health District where she worked for three years as an All-Hazards Planner. Prior to SIPH, Sears spent seven years at the Department of Homeland Security. She is a 2018 graduate of FEMA’s National Emergency Management Basic Academy, and she has a Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree from Grantham University.

“What impressed me the most about Jessy is her energy, enthusiasm, and positive can-do attitude. Jessy is well connected to emergency managers at the county, regional, and national levels, which is a monumental asset. I feel she will fit well into our campus community,” said Lewis Eakins, Chief Security Officer.
