Cory Bennett Presents at Conference

April 22, 2021

Dr. Cory Bennett, Professor of Mathematics Education for the College of Education, recently presented remotely at the inaugural STEM Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) Teacher Conference in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The STEM MENA Conference was designed to provide a space to bring together educators from across the greater MENA region, who are keen to engage and learn how to effectively deliver a STEM curriculum, which adapts to the prevailing learning environment, be it; online, in the classroom or via a hybrid model.

Bennett’s presentation focused on developing the ways in which K-12 students think and behave in technical content areas to integrate learning. Specifically, by learning to think and behave like a mathematician, students can apply similar ways of thinking across STEM content areas. One participant from the UAE commented “thanks for an enlightening presentation especially since we now do STEM based projects [across content areas].”

This is the seventh invited presentation for Dr. Bennett in the MENA region in the last few years. To learn more about the STEM MENA Teacher Conference, please visit their website at https://stemmena.com/
