Arunima Datta to Give Book Talk

April 15, 2021

Dr. Arunima Datta, Assistant Professor of History, recently published her first book, "Fleeting Agencies: A Social History of Indian Coolie Women in British Malaya" with Cambridge University Press.

"Fleeting Agencies" is the first study of Indian coolie women in British Malaya to date. It disrupts the male-dominated narratives by focusing on gendered patterns of migration and show how South Asian women labor migrants engaged with the process of migration, interacted with other migrants, and negotiated colonial laws

Datta will deliver a book talk to the ISU community via Zoom on April 22 at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Registration is required.
