Idaho State University is excited to announce a new tradition focused on making college more accessible to students.

During his Fall Address in August, President Kevin Satterlee announced Kevin’s Run for Funds, a 5K run/walk event for University employees, with a focus on raising money for student scholarships. President Satterlee hopes the tradition will bring us together as a community to celebrate each other, and, in the process, help more students gain access to higher education.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 9, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Stephens Performing Arts Center. The $25 entry fee will directly go into a permanent scholarship endowment. Idaho State is covering all event-related costs, so every cent raised, without deduction, will go towards helping students fund their education. Registered participants will also receive a t-shirt, race bib, and a ticket to the home football game later that day.

Satterlee issued an additional challenge that for every faculty and staff member who finishes the race ahead of him, he will personally add another $10 into the scholarship fund. He said that he sincerely hopes every faculty member and staff member of the University will show up on October 9.

“My goal in creating an annual celebration event is that this story of hope for our future can meet the hope for students seeking an education through the scholarship we will create," he said. "Because hope for our future is critical. We have to stay focused on the horizon for ourselves, and this University, and most of all, for our students.”

More information about the event and registration is available online. The registration deadline is Friday, September 17. Late registrations will be accepted through October 1, but participants who register after September 17 will not receive a t-shirt. Please send any follow-up questions to events@isu.edu
