ISU email account update

October 26, 2020

Information Technology Services will soon be giving many people at ISU a new alias for their ISU email accounts.  This is part of the Identity Management system, which is designed to keep access to secure systems safe. This change will be rolled out Dec. 11-13.

This will affect anyone who has the earlier email format, which featured the first four letters of their last name, followed by the first four letters of their first name (also known as the 4x4).  Those people will get an additional email address that consists of their first name and last name (firstnamelastname@isu.edu).

These new email addresses will function as alias addresses in ISU’s gmail system, which means that any messages sent to either the new or old email address will go to the same account.  We will not be removing old email addresses, which will continue to function as usual.

We will be sending out an email to those who will be affected explaining what to expect and answering questions they may have, including what to do if they have a preferred name that is different from their legal first name.

Anyone with questions is invited to contact the IT Service Desk at 208-282-HELP (4357), or via email at help@isu.edu.
