Annual fundraiser to help student outreach initiatives and Make-A-Wish Idaho

POCATELLO – The Idaho State University College of Pharmacy's 26th Annual Spaghetti Feed is set for 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Pond Student Union Ballroom in Pocatello.

This event, which is planned almost entirely by student pharmacists, has become quite a tradition for the College as an opportunity for the community to gather with student pharmacists to enjoy delicious food and lots of fun.

It is also an important fundraiser to ensure College of Pharmacy students have the tools they need for a variety of community health outreach programs throughout the year. As with years past, a portion of the proceeds from the spaghetti feed will also go towards making a dream come true for a local Make-a-Wish Idaho child.

This year's event will include a spaghetti dinner, raffle, silent auction and trivia. Cody, an 11-year-old from Pocatello who is in remission from childhood rhabdomyosarcoma, a disease in which malignant cancer cells form in muscle tissue, will attend with his family to share his Make-A-Wish story.

Every year, College of Pharmacy students provide flu shots, health screenings and health information to their community. Events like the Spaghetti Feed in Pocatello and a Trivia Night fundraiser in Meridian help provide the students with the materials they need. Last year, the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists of Idaho State University received a national award from the American Pharmacists Association for their work in providing vaccinations and information about immunizations to the community.

In addition to Operation Immunization, other outreach efforts include Operation Heart, Operation Diabetes and Generation Rx, an educational program that aims to increase public awareness of prescription drug abuse.

Admission to the Spaghetti Feed is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event. Tickets can be purchased online at http://bit.ly/CoP_SpaghettiFeed_2019.
