Rick Dutson named director of Purchasing

August 12, 2019

The Office of Finance and Business affairs is pleased to announce that Rick Dutson will serve as Director of Purchasing at Idaho State University (ISU).  Dutson comes into the role after David Buck retired following a nearly 30 year career at Idaho State University.

Dutson, an ISU Purchasing Agent since 2014, has over 20 years of experience in the private sector working in procurement. Prior to this, Rick spent 24 years in the Air Force, stationed in Asia, Europe, and throughout the United States, before he retired. He holds a State of Idaho Procurement Certification and specializes in contract negotiation and administration, supply chain projects, and sustainability initiatives. While at ISU, Dutson developed the ISU eWaste Cycling Program, and recommended and implemented the RFID inventory systems for all university assets.

“Rick brings a wealth of experience from the private sector and has an eye for proposing new solutions to solve problems,” said Dr. Glen Nelson, Vice President for Finance and Business Affairs. “Purchasing impacts every unit on campus and Rick has a rich career of collaborating across the organization. He will play a critical role for enhancing ISU’s supplier relationships and working to drive cross-functional process improvements.”
