Wigs available at new wig room ‘The Hair Loft’ that has opening set Dec. 2

POCATELLO – The Idaho State University Cosmetology Program will hold a ribbon-cutting and grand opening at 10 a.m. Dec. 2 for its new wig room called The Hair Loft, which received a $2,000 donation from the bicycle group Spinderella.

The Hair Loft is located in Room 267 of the College of  Technology Roy F. Christensen Building, located at 777 Memorial Drive in Pocatello.

The Hair Loft will be the new location for the Wigs on Loan non-profit program sponsored by the ISU College of Technology Cosmetology Program. The Wigs on Loan program serves the community and anyone who has medically induced hair loss. In addition, a former client who received a wig from The Hair Loft will share her story about the Wigs on Loan program.

The Hair Loft has more than 200 wigs that can be checked out for a $10 refundable  deposit. The Cosmetology Program teaches students the proper way to fit and care for the wigs and how to be compassionate to their clients’ hair loss and illness.

“It is one of the best parts of my job when I get to go with a student and see the client who comes in just wanting to hide from the world to wearing out a wig feeling like a million bucks,” said Casie Jensen, coordinator and instructor for the Cosmetology Program. “Their whole personality comes out-shoulders back and chin up after we find and fit a wig just for them.”
