Identity Management System changes coming soon

December 12, 2019

At the end of this month, Information Technology Services is beginning a multi-phase process to change the University’s Identity Management System. Idaho State’s identity management system verifies usernames and passwords before giving access to our systems, such as BengalWeb and Moodle. Along with other benefits,, this new system will allow users to set up and maintain accounts without contacting the IT Service Desk.

This update has three critical phases. The first phase is claiming your ISU Account. In February, phase two will begin, which includes transitioning to a new First Name+Last Name email address. All current 4x4 emails will remain active and functional. In March, a multi-year process will begin for receiving a new First Name+Last Name username.

By Dec. 31, an email will be sent out to all users with instructions on how the users can claim their accounts in the new system. The email will come from iam@isu.edu, with a subject line of “Claim your ISU ACCOUNT”. Step-by-step instructions are available for the Account Claim process.

During the transition, ISU applications such as BengalWeb and Moodle will be temporarily unavailable. Users who do not claim their account and set up their new password/security questions will be unable to access many systems at ISU beginning Dec. 30, including BengalWeb and Moodle. Email will remain available.

Anyone with questions should contact the ITS Service Desk at (208) 282- 4357. Employees will be on-hand during the holiday break to answer questions.
