English Graduate Students Present Research at Western Literature Association

September 26, 2019

A group of students who attended an English conference

From September 18-21, 12 members of the Department of English and Philosophy presented their research at the annual meeting of the Western Literature Association, held this year in Estes Park, Colorado, at the YMCA of the Rockies. Led by Associate Professor of English Dr. Amanda Zink, 11 graduate students in English—a mix of masters and doctoral students —experienced the professional benefits of attending an international literary conference: presenting and receiving feedback on their research, meeting other scholars in the field, and making connections with potential employers and publishers. For several of these students, this was their first professional conference. Zink was elected vice-president of the Western Literature Association until 2022, when, as president, she will host the annual meeting at the Shoshone-Bannock Hotel and Event Center on the Fort Hall Reservation. The group received generous sponsorship from individuals in the Pocatello community and from the ISU Credit Union.
