A message from Kevin: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

November 11, 2019

Team,

As I think you all know, I love it when our students demonstrate their talents and do something great. On Friday night, I had the true pleasure of witnessing our students perform The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, the musical. Our students performed amazingly well, and their acting, singing, and dancing were nothing short of delightful and (as any good comedy should be) hilarious. Accompanied by some of our faculty in the orchestra, our students really put on a show!

Now, I have to tell you that the book, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, is one of my holiday favorites. When my children were little, I used to read this book aloud to them every year around the holidays. So, the story has a great place in my heart, and watching our students bring it, and the Herdmans, to life on stage was extraordinary.

Only after I was in the theater did I realize that five years ago, when this story was turned into a musical, that the writer and composer workshopped the production right here on our campus in the Stephens Performing Arts Center. And, Friday night, I got to witness our students turn that production into a work of art. The good news is, the students are performing the play again this week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, the 14th, 15th, and 16th.

On a professional level, I encourage everyone to attend and watch our students do what they do so well. On a personal level, I encourage everyone to attend enjoy a well-performed fantastic story.

–Kevin
