ISU faculty chamber music concert set April 20 at 7:30 p.m.

April 14, 2016

POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s School of Performing Arts will present the last faculty chamber concert for the season featuring members of the Monarch Trio and mezzo soprano Kathleen Lane at 7:30 p.m. April 20 in Goranson Hall in the ISU Fine Arts Building.

The trio features violinist Keum Hwa Cha, cellist Eleanor Christman Cox and pianist Kori Bond.

To begin the concert, Lane will be joined by cellist Cox and pianist Bond to perform two songs by Johannes Brahms, a pair of lullabies as sung by Mary to the Christ-child.  Cox and violinist Cha will follow with a virtuosic string duo, “Passacaglia in G minor on a Theme by Handel,” by Post-Romantic composer Johan Halvorsen. They will conclude the first half with “Sonatensatz” for violin and piano, also by Brahms.

The second half of the concert will be comprised of the Monarch Trio performing one of the greatest piano trios of all time, the “Ghost Trio” by Beethoven.

Tickets for the concert are suggested donations of $10 for the general public, $7 for faculty and staff, $5 for pre-college students and free for ISU students, Idaho State Youth Symphony students and students in the Preparatory Piano Program.  Children younger than 6 are not admitted.
