POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s Eli M. Oboler Library will present an exhibit of fine art photographic prints by photographer Linda Groom through Feb. 29, with an opening reception set Jan. 20 from 4:30 to 6 p.m., in the first floor art exhibit area.

The reception is free and open to the public and offers participants the opportunity to meet the artist, visit with others who appreciate art, enjoy some light refreshment, and view the varied and beautiful images.

One of the images in Groom’s exhibit.
Groom’s photographs reflect her worldwide travels, from Idaho to Burma and beyond. An Idaho native, she graduated from the University of Idaho, taught junior high, owned a yarn store and spent nearly 20 years as a real estate associate broker. She is on the boards of directors for the Idaho State Civic Symphony and the Pocatello Art Center and is a member of Pocatello Rotary. Groom found her true passion behind the lens; beauty, she writes, can be found everywhere.

This exhibit will include images of the ancient temples in Palmyra, Syria, taken by Groom shortly before the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage site was destroyed by ISIS bombers this fall.

The art exhibit may be viewed at any time the library is open; see the library’s webpage at www.isu.edu/library for the library’s hours.

For more information, contact Kristi Austin at the Oboler Library at austkris@isu.edu or (208) 282-4073; Groom can also be contacted by email at lgroom@aol.com, or phone 208-251-4111, and by visiting her website at http://lindagroomphotography.com.

The Oboler Library is located on the corner of Ninth Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, at 850 S. 9th Ave., Pocatello.
