POCATELLO –Southeast Idaho economist Dan Cravens is the new director of Idaho State University’s Bengal Solutions, a student-driven consulting firm in the College of Business.

Cravens joined Bengal Solutions Monday, Sept. 14.

As director, Cravens will oversee a team of Master of Business Administration and Master of Accountancy students who take on in-depth consulting projects for profit and nonprofit organizations. Projects include market analyses, feasibility studies and economic impact reports.

Cravens was most recently employed with the Idaho Department of Labor where he served as the regional economist for southeast Idaho. “Dan’s background in research and consulting with local businesses, economic development organizations, and state and local governments make him an asset to the students of Bengal Solutions, as well as to the College and the community,” said Tom Ottaway, dean of the College of Business.

Cravens has a regular column with the Idaho State Journal and the Blackfoot Morning News in which he discusses issues that affect the economy of southeast Idaho and how people can meet the growing and changing needs of the local and global economy.

“I am most interested in how Bengal Solutions can stimulate economic growth in southeast Idaho and in equipping these students with practical skills they can use in future employment that make them competitive and desirable across Idaho and the nation,” said Cravens.
