A workshop for making masks for the Idaho State University College of Arts and Letters New Year’s Eve Gala “Masquerade Ball” will be held on Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

The workshop will be held in the Stephens Center costume shop, Room 231.

It's time to make masks.“This event gives people in the community a chance to make masks to match their gowns and attire when they attend the gala,” said Tara Young, theatre professor and workshop director.

The workshop will start with a presentation on the history of mask making. Each participant will then be given a blank mask and glitter, beading, feathers, sequins and trim to decorate with. Students from ISU will attend the workshop and assist in making masks.

“It also gives people in the community a chance to get to know our students and see the fine facilities available to them,” Young said.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling 282-3207.

The second annual College of Arts and Letters New Year’s Eve Gala will be held on Dec. 31 at the Stephens Performing Arts Center. Students will perform in theatrical performances, jazz band, choral numbers, and also display their visual art. All proceeds from the event benefit student scholarships in the arts. Tickets are $125 each and can also be purchased by calling 282-3207.
