ISU presents University of Utah Distinguished Professor Henry Harpending lecturing on ‘Recent Rapid Human Evolution’ on Feb. 7

University of Utah Distinguished Professor of Anthropology Henry Harpending will present the lecture "Recent Rapid Human Evolution: Some Implications for the Humanities and Sciences" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 in the Idaho State University College of Education Auditorium. 

Harpending is author of three books and more than 100 refereed publications. He is a world leader in the science of anthropological genetics, human demography and human evolutionary biology.

His most recent book is "The 10,000 Year Explosion: How Civilization Accelerated Human Evolution" co-authored with G. Cochran and published by Basic Books in 2009.

This lecture is sponsored by the Idaho Museum of Natural History, the ISU Chapter of Sigma Xi, the College of Arts and Letters Cultural Events Committee, ISU Office of Research, and the Department of Anthropology. Harpending’s lecture and several other ISU activities are being presented in honor of Darwin Day on Feb. 12
