Idaho State University visiting artist Sasha Duerr will present natural dyes, sustainable fashions lecture, workshop April 25-26

Idaho State University Department of Art visiting artist Sasha Duerr will present a lecture and workshop on natural dyes and sustainable fashions April 25 and 26 at Idaho State University.

The April 25 lecture on "slow" textiles, natural dyes and social practices for sustainability in fashion and textiles will be held at 5 p.m. in Room 401 of the ISU Fine Arts Building.

The visiting artist will also host "Natural Plant Dye" workshop running from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at ISU Fine Arts Building Room 407.

Pre-registration for the free workshop is required.

Duerr is an artist and designer who works with organic dyes and fibers and focusing on the creative reuse of materials. Duerr's textile art and design is frequently shown in museums and galleries. Her works have been featured in such publications as The New York Times, Selvedge, The Huffington Post and Whole Living. Duerr is a faculty member in textiles at the California College of the Arts, where she develops curriculum in slow fashion, slow textiles and social practice.
