ISU Idaho Museum of Natural History to present ‘A Tradition of Service: Honoring Fort Hall Veterans’ exhibit starting Aug. 9

The Idaho State University Idaho Museum of Natural History has announced the opening of the new exhibit "A Tradition of Service: Honoring Fort Hall Veterans" on Aug. 9.
The exhibit features information on Native American service in the military, highlighting Fort Hall military service, from the Indian Wars to the conflicts of the present day. Information panels and military gear related to Indian scouts and 20th-century warfare are included in the exhibit.
"A Tradition of Service: Honoring Fort Hall Veterans" is running in conjunction with the Smithsonian's traveling exhibit "Native Words, Native Warriors," which runs until Sept. 29.
IMNH is also participating in the Blue Star Museum initiative. Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to the nation's active duty military personnel including National Guard and Reserve and their families from May 27 through Sept. 2.
The free admission program is available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), a DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes all active duty in the U.S. military, as well as all members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps with up to five family members.
IMNH would also like to extend these same benefits to any active-duty firefighters or police visiting the museum, with accompanying ID.
The Idaho Museum of Natural History is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located on the lower campus of Idaho State University. Admission for adults is $5 and children K-12 are $1.
