The Idaho State University Office of Marketing and Communications distributes this event calendar to let the public and media know about upcoming non-athletic events at the University. This information is intended for release in print and broadcast events calendars. Various events calendars with more complete information are available online at the website www.isu.edu/calendar.

Friday, September 27

Idaho State Civic Symphony: 7:30 p.m. at the Jensen Grand Concert Hall inside the Stephens Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available by visiting www.isu.edu/tickets or by calling or visiting the Stephens Center Box Office at 282-3595. Ticket prices are $32 for general public, $33 if purchasing with a credit card, $29 for faculty and staff, $29.90 if purchasing with a credit card, $17 for high school students, $17.55 if purchasing with a credit card, and ISU students are free with tickets available only on the night of the performance. Saturday, September 28

International Night: 6-9 p.m. inside the Pond Student Union Building Ballroom. Tickets are available in the Pond Student Union Building and the Rendezvous Building; Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket prices are $7 for students, $8 for faculty and staff, and $9 for the general public. CarFit Drive-In Event for Seniors: CarFit is a free, fun educational event where trained technicians help senior drivers find their "best fit" within their vehicles. Drivers bring their own cars and receive information about how adjusting the seat, steering wheel, and other components of their cars can increase their safety and comfort while driving. Licensed drivers of any age are welcome and every driver receives a free goodie bag. A CarFit check-up takes about 20 minutes and appointments are recommended. Homecoming Kickoff and After Hours Celebration: 6-9 p.m. Homecoming Kickoff and Pocatello Chamber Business After Hours Celebration at Pinehurst Nursery and Floral, 4101 Pole Line Road, (just off N. Yellowstone Ave) in Pocatello. There is no admission fee. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Humanities Café: “Aliens, Monsters, and Gender”: 6 p.m. at the Portnuef Valley Brewery located at 615 1st Ave in Pocatello. The first presentation will focus on “Shapeshifters and Androgynes” with Brian Atterbery, and the second presentation will focus on “When is a Monster still a Monster?” with Mathew Vanwinkle. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

ISU Symphonic Band Concert: 7:30 p.m. at the Jensen Grand Concert Hall inside the Stephens Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available by visiting www.isu.edu/tickets, calling or visiting the Stephens Center Box Office at 282-3595, or at Campus Connections inside the Pond Student Union Building. Ticket prices are $8 for general public, $6 for faculty and staff, $4 for high school students, and ISU students are free with a valid Bengal card. Free Flu Shots at College of Pharmacy Open House: 4:30-7 p.m. at the College of Pharmacy. Faculty, students and staff of the College of Pharmacy will provide free flu vaccinations to the first 100 guests who register for adult flu shots during the Pharmacy Open House. These shots are a $30 value and will be available for this price after the first 100 are given. The open house is being held in conjunction with a two-day Renovation Celebration at the College. Student organizations will also be in attendance to provide health screenings and education to the public. For more information about the ISU College of Pharmacy Open House, please call 282-3393.

Presidents’ Alumni Recognition Reception and Dinner: 6 p.m. in the Main Ballroom of the Pocatello Red Lion Hotel. Scheduled events include a reception at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and Recognition of Alumni Award recipients at 8 p.m. Cost is $40 per person. Saturday, October 5

ISU Homecoming Parade: 9:30 a.m.-noon through downtown Pocatello. The parade will start at First Avenue and Center Street and ending at Holt Arena parking lot.

Tuesday, October 8

Graduate Programs and Health Professions Fair: 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Pond Student Union Building Ballroom. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with schools and employers in health care professions, ISU graduate programs, law schools, and other graduate schools. This event is free and is open to students and the public. If you want to gain more knowledge on a certain program or school or if you are an undergraduate looking to expand your network and discover opportunities for your future, you are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be provided and there will be a giveaway for a tablet.

Wednesday, October 9

Poetry Reading with Ben Gunsberg: 7-8:30 p.m. in the Bengal Café inside the Pond Student Union Building. The public is invited to attend a poetry reading featuring Ben Gunsberg. A pre-reception will begin at 6:30 p.m.

ISU School of Performing Arts Theatre to present: “A Philadelphia Story”: 7:30 p.m. in the Bistline Theatre at the Stephens Performing Arts Center. Come see and bid on incredible scarecrow packages full of tricks and treats. The family fun will start at 6 p.m. with Chili Wars and a Silent Auction followed by the LIVE Scarecrow Auction at 7 p.m. featuring Roger Stockwell. Season of Note “The Fab Four”: 7:30 p.m. in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall inside the Stephens Performing Arts Center.
