The American Red Cross emergency shelter in the Idaho State University Holt Arena for evacuees of the Charlotte Fire in the Mink Creek and Gibson Jack areas will remain open until at least 8 p.m. Friday, June 29, announced Stephen Chatterton, director of ISU Public Safety.

Emergency personnel will re-evaluate the need for the shelter at the fire's Emergency Operation Center meeting at 8 p.m. tonight to determine if it will remain open longer. The shelter will remain open as long as there is a need for it.

"We are collaborating with the Red Cross and other emergency organizations to offer any and every kind of help we can to members of our community who have been displaced because of these tragic fires," said Arthur C. Vailas, Idaho State University President. "Our hearts go out to all those who have been adversely affected by these fires, and we gladly offer our facilities and services to help them."
