ISU Jazz Bands to perform concert April 2

The Idaho State University Jazz Band I and Jazz Band II will present a concert on Friday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Jazz I director will be Patrick Brooks, ISU director of bands. Kevin York, ISU associate director of bands, will direct Jazz II.

Jazz I will premiere new arrangements along with jazz favorites. New selections will include “Boogie Stop Shuffle” by Charles Mingus, "Flight of the Foo Birds" by Count Basie, and the retro classic "Channel One Suite," as recorded by the Buddy Rich Big Band in the 1970s.

Jazz II will perform the Chuck Mangione classic "Children of Sanchez," Benny Golson’s "Killer Joe," Bob Minter’s "Lester Jumps Out," Duke Ellington’s "Caravan," and the adored jazz ballad "Traci."

General admission tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for faculty and staff, and $2 for pre-college students.  ISU students with a valid Bengal card are free.  For more information on the concert or tickets call the ISU Music Department at 282-3636.
