The Idaho State University College of Engineering achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam, according to Miriam Dance, the College of Engineering’s public information specialist.

This exam is one of two written exams that students must pass in order to become licensed professional engineers and covers subjects that are common to all fields of engineering.  To take this exam, students must be in the last year of a four-year engineering degree accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.  After passing this test and graduating, students receive a certificate as an engineer intern.

The 12 students who passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam are Gilberto Diaz Aleman, Aaron Jentry Baird, Bryton Curnutt, Nathan David Funk, Abhishek Jaiswal, Brain J. Kanen, Tyson Wesley Kent, R. Dale Kepler III, Curtis John McQuary, Bruice David Peirson, Timothy T. Rainsdon and Yi Tang.

Following four years of experience as an engineer intern, individuals can apply for the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam, which tests their ability to become responsible for public health, safety and welfare associated with engineering projects.  Both of these exams are administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.  After passing the final exam, engineer interns are able to become licensed professional engineers.
