Theatre/Dance ISU will present “Headlines,” a series of seven original, physical theatre works at five different locations in Old Town Pocatello during the First Friday Art Walk, May 1.

Performance sites include: Dudunake Park as part of the Dedication Ceremony for “Passage of Time,” the new sculpture by Peggy Gunnerson; Mind Your Body; Simplot Square; the Little Breezeway; and the Old Town Pavilion.  Each site will include different performances.

The schedule for the “Headlines” performances is:

•    5:40 p.m., Dudunake Park, 326 South Main;

•    6 p.m., Mind Your Body, 234 South Main;

•    6:20 p.m., Simplot Square, Center & Arthur;

•    6:40 p.m., Little Breezeway,  240 North Main (near Scott’s); and

•    7 p.m., Old Town Pavilion, 420 North Main.

Performers Mychal Lowman, Samantha Wortham, Omar Raudez, Bridget Close, David Allen, Andrew Katseanes, Karen Linafelter, Tiffany Chandler, Lauren Bernal and Victor Gomez are students in Paul Zmolek’s “Theatre Practicum in Physical Theatre” class, THEA 390.

The performers were given three random headlines culled from newspapers, magazines and the Internet and asked to write a passage that somehow connected the ideas from all three headlines.  These texts were then used to inspire movement; words and movement were brought together to create the seven different performances for “Headlines.”  The results are at times comedic, absurdist, poignant, and always entertaining.
