Idaho State University Homecoming runs Sept. 28-Oct. 3; variety of events planned

Idaho State University’s Homecoming 2009 with the theme “Cruising with the Cats!” will feature a variety of events culminating with a Homecoming Parade at 10 a.m. and football game at 3:35 p.m. on Oct. 3.

“We invite the entire community to help celebrate Homecoming through the variety of events offered, from the Rock ‘n’ Roll with the Alumni Cats dance at Pinehurst Nursery on Oct. 1 to the Homecoming Royalty Competition,” said Bill Kobus, director of Alumni Relations. “Help us celebrate by attending the parade, the pre-game tailgate party outside Holt Arena, and finally by attending the football game to cheer on our Bengals.”

ISU Alumni Association and Student Activities Board events planned include:

•  Alumni Art Show – Opening Sept. 28, the Alumni Art Show will run through Oct. 8 in the Transition Art Gallery in the Pond Student Union The opening reception will be held 6-8 p.m. Sept. 28.

• SAB Spirit Log Hunt – Begins 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at the Involvement Center in the lower level of the Pond Student Union.

• SAB Street Painting – Begins at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in the Pond Student Union parking lot.

 • SAB Car Crush – Begins at noon Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Cadet Field, between Reed Gymnasium and Rendezvous Complex.

• SAB Powder-Puff Football Game – Begins 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the ISU Rugby Field on Bartz Field.

• SAB Bonfire/Spirit Rally – Begins at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Bartz Field.  

• Veterans’ Sanctuary Grand Opening, begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Rendezvous Atrium.

•  SAB Food Dip Competition – Begins at noon Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Rendezvous Complex.

• SAB Guitars Unplugged contest – Begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Pond Student Union Ballroom.

• SAB Arm Wrestling – Begins at noon Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Roy F. Christensen Building.

• Public unveiling of a painting of Chief Pocatello will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

• SAB Homecoming Royalty Pageant – Begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, Pond Student Union Ballroom.

• Alumni Gathering Rock ‘n’ Roll with the Alumni Cats begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Pinehurst Nursery & Floral in Pocatello. Cost is $20 per person. DJ Kelly Martinez will play music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond. Call 282-3755 or email alumni@isu.edu to make reservations.

•  Homecoming Parade – Begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the corner of Center Street and First Avenue and ends at the Holt Arena parking lot.

• Experience the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall, from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center. Various alumni will perform.

• Homecoming 2009 Football Game – The ISU versus Eastern Washington game starts at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Holt Arena. Homecoming 2009 Alumni Award Recipients will receive their awards at half time. The Bengal Fest tailgate party will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Holt Arena parking lot. • Big Sky Reunion – Immediately after the game at the Red Lion Hotel-Pocatello on Saturday, Oct. 3. Join the ISU Alumni Association for a night of reminising with alumni who have worked or played in the Big Sky Conference.
