Idaho State University posts a second consecutive increased fall enrollment. Fall 2009 10th-day enrollment figures indicate Idaho State University enrollment has increased 6.6 percent over last fall to 13,493 students, 840 more students than at the same time last year.

“Through coordinated efforts across our colleges and in enrollment management, we have been able to accommodate a substantial increase in our enrollment,” said Stephen Adkison, ISU associate vice president for academic programming and review. “We’ve had more effective scheduling and are running more courses at full capacity. The bottom line is that we’re serving more students more efficiently.”

These 10th-day numbers do not include a large number of Early College Program students or students who register later in the semester for a wide variety of offerings. Last fall for example, ISU had 12,653 students when 10th-day figures were released, but by the end of fall semester 2008 the university recorded a record enrollment of 14,520 students. Given historical trends in Early College courses, enrollment is expected to climb even further by the end of the fall 2009 semester.

"These outstanding enrollment increases are a direct result of our concerted effort to put students first," said Gary A. Olson, provost and vice president for academic affairs. "We have worked overtime to ensure that incoming students are treated well and have available seats in the classes they will need to take."
