Idaho State University’s student dance club, DANSON, presents master classes in contemporary ballet, taught by Paul Zmolek, on Fridays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. through Dec. 4 in the Red Hill Building Dance Studio 101.

This class provides a contemporary somatic approach to training in classical ballet, emphasizing movement, dynamic alignment, correct muscular usage and initiation.

The classes are open to the public. No registration is required and drop-ins are welcome.

Zmolek is a master teacher with more than 30 years of professional experience in classical, contemporary and traditional dance, as well as interdisciplinary cross-cultural performing arts. Highlights of his performing career include creating title roles for the world premiere of three ballets by Frank Zappa as well as roles in works by Paul Taylor and Anna Sokolow.

DANSON, the ISU student dance company, began in 1978 as an organization under the Associated Students of Idaho State University.  DANSON continues to perform semiannual dance concerts and many other dance-related activities.
