The Idaho State University Idaho Small Business Development Center (SDBC) is once again presenting the Women’s Business Symposium, a day-long event open to all and featuring a program of interest to current and prospective business owners, managers and their employees. The symposium will be held at the ISU Pond Student Union Building from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

The event is sponsored by Bank of Idaho, Eastern Idaho Development Corporation, and Rockwood Stone Wealth Management, LLC.

After a welcome by Pocatello mayor Roger Chase and SBDC executive director Matt Creamer, the keynote presentation will be given by Karen Donaldson, director of Excel Fitness/Weight Loss Solutions of Pocatello.  Her presentation is titled “Carbs, Cravings and Belly Fat – Solutions for the Busy Executive.”

Morning breakout sessions following the keynote will cover the legal aspects of business; business basics, and 21 free and cheap marketing secrets to grow your business.

Gynii Gilliam, executive director of Bannock Development Corp. will be the luncheon speaker. She will discuss some of the new companies moving into the area and the economic future of Bannock County.

Afternoon breakout sessions deal with controlling waste to improve the bottom line; the American west’s way to the abundant life, and women and investing.

The closing session will feature Jaylynne Twiss of Paul, Idaho, with a motivational talk on “The pony or the horse manure – it’s your choice.”

The trade show exhibits will be open at 8:30 am and will close at 4:30 pm.  Morning and afternoon breaks will allow attendees to visit the business expo area and visit with exhibitors.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door and include all sessions, breaks and luncheon. Trade tables at the symposium’s business expo are $75, which includes one admission for all sessions, breaks and the luncheon.
