The Idaho State University Janet C. Anderson Gender Resource Center in conjunction with the ISU Student Health Center is pleased to announce a screening of the NOVA documentary "Dying to be Thin" on Feb. 26 that will be followed by a discussion led by Paulette Canfield.

The screening will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Pond Student Union Building Bear River Room.

Paulette is a an RN at the Student Health Center.

This screening is free and open to the public .Feb. 24 to March 1 is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. This screening is shown in order to raise awareness about eating disorders.

According to its producers "Dying to be Thin"  examines a disturbing increase in the prevalence of debilitating and sometimes life-threatening eating disorders, particularly anorexia and bulimia. Tragically, eating disorders are quite lethal. The death rate is about 12 times higher than for other women of similar ages. One in ten will die from the illness. Anorexia nervosa ranks as the third most common chronic illness among adolescent females in the United States. There is hope and help for eating disorders, but early intervention is the key.

For more information on the NOVA documentary screening, contact Paulette Canfield, at the Student Health Center at 282-2330.
