ISU Foundation names three new members to its Board of Directors

The Idaho State University Foundation has named three new members to its Board of Directors. They are Boise attorney Bruce Bistline; Idaho Falls CEO Sylvia Medina; and retired business executive Douglas R. Pitman, from Jackson, Wyo.

“We are excited about Bruce joining the Foundation Board. He not only brings outstanding professional credentials to the Board but a real passion and support for the advancement of Idaho State University,” said Michael J. Byrne, president of the ISU Foundation Board of Directors. “Even before joining the Board, Bruce demonstrated his leadership talents by heading a special committee for the Foundation to help accelerate the retirement of debt associated with the Stephens Performing Arts Center.”

Bistline will attend his first ISU Foundation Board meeting this fall. Medina and Pitman attended their first board meeting this spring.

Medina, from Idaho Falls, is president and CEO of North Wind, Inc.

“Sylvia brings wonderful, new capabilities to the board,” said Kent Tingey, ISU vice president for advancement. “Her contacts in Idaho Falls and her amazing success with North Wind, Inc., will be a strong benefit to the Idaho State University Foundation.”

Pitman, a co-founder of Micron Technologies in Boise, is now retired and lives in Jackson, Wyo. He graduated from the ISU College of Technology and has been a longtime supporter of that college through the Douglas R. Pitman Endowment. He received the ISU Professional Achievement Award in 1988.

“His story and business experience as cofounder of Micron will be invaluable to the ISU Foundation and Idaho State University,” Tingey said. “He is an Idaho State University graduate and his philanthropic support of the University is deeply appreciated.”
