For the third time since 1985, the Idaho State University Department of Counseling has won the Robert Frank Outstanding Counselor Education Program Award.

The counseling program was selected from university programs nominated from throughout the country. ISU was selected by the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, a division of the American Counseling Association. Counseling faculty and staff were formally honored March 29 at the A.C.A. annual convention in Honolulu,Hawaii.

The annual award is named in memory of University of Northern Iowa Professor Robert Frank for his outstanding contributions to the field of counselor education. The honor recognizes innovations in education, supervision and clinical work. The ISU program was specifically cited for its mentoring of students, particularly at the doctoral level.

“It’s often difficult for small universities to receive national recognition. We are thrilled to receive this prestigious national honor,” said Department of Counseling Chair Stephen Feit.

ISU’s program has nine faculty members—including two professors at ISU-Boise. In fall 2008, ISU-Boise will offer the Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Counseling.
