Idaho State University’s Bengal Dancers will host a Spring Dance Concert on Thursday, April 3, and Friday, April 4, at 7 p.m. inside Frazier Hall.

Earlier this year, ISU’s Bengal Dancers brought home a new title when they were named the 2008 USA Large Open Dance National Champions. The Bengal Dancers will perform their 2008 award winning routine “Love is a Battlefield,” choreographed by Fred Odgaard, former dancer for the Celine Dion show in Las Vegas.

The Bengal Dancers will host an evening of various styles of dance that include hip-hop, tap, modern, contemporary, jazz, step, pointe, lyrical and musical theatre.

Solos set by nationally renowned choreographers will be performed by Kelsi Goodfellow from Burley, Sierra Smith from Pocatello and Asthon PeCoy from Corona, Calif.

In addition, six group pieces choreographed and set by members of the ISU Bengal Dance team will be performed. Members of the ISU Dance faculty, Molly Jorgensen and Terron Flowers, and the Bengal Dancers head coach, Hilary Hofmaier, have also contributed pieces to be performed at this event.

The Friday evening performance is also Bengal Dancer Alumni night. Tryouts for the 2008-2009 Bengal Dancers will be Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Reed Gym.
