Calendars from the fifth annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event are now available for purchase from the Idaho State University Janet C. Anderson Gender Center.

This event, held in October, is popular in the ISU and southeastern Idaho communities. The calendar features men who have participated in the event, wearing their favorite high heel shoes to bring awareness of violence against women.  “While many people may have the perception that domestic violence and sexual assault are ‘women’s issues,’ we believe that inviting men to become allies in ending the violence sends a powerful message,” stated Kimberly Talbot, assistant director of the Anderson Gender Center. “In asking men to publicly stand up and show their commitment to ending violence, their actions will encourage other men to start thinking about how they personally can do their part to end violence.”

All proceeds from the sale of this calendar will be used to provide services for victims of intimate partner and sexual violence, and fund prevention and awareness activities at Idaho State University and in the southeastern Idaho community.

To purchase a calendar, or for more information, please contact Talbot at (208) 282-2805 or visit the Web site at www.isuwalkamile.com.
