College of Technology’s Matteson-Howell earns land-surveyors’ award

 Janice Matteson-Howell, Idaho State University College of Technology technical department chair, was recently presented with the “Friend of the Society Award” by the Idaho Society of Professional Land Surveyors.

Matteson-Howell was presented a plaque during a special luncheon hosted in her honor to recognize the leadership she has provided to advance the development and direction of the geomatics and civil engineering technology programs at the Idaho State University College of Technology. Her supervision led to the attainment of certification by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET) in 2006 for both programs.  

Matteson-Howell began working at ISU in 1974 and received her tenure in 1989. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business education in 1964, and a master’s degree in occupational training management in 1989, both from ISU. She is a member of the American Technical Education Association and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She was recognized in 2003 for service to the Bannock Youth Garden, Children’s Advocacy Network Meditation Garden.
