A Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition, “Landscape as Narrative,” by Idaho State University graduate student Helen Livingston will be on display from Oct. 30 to Nov. 9 in the Davis Gallery on the lower level of the ISU Fine Arts Building.

Since 2003 Livingston’s work has been shown at various venues in Pocatello. In 1998, Livingston discovered the art and pre-architecture department at ISU, and after eight years of art studies, she has achieved a lifelong desire of becoming a trained and degreed artist.

“Nothing means more to me than receiving my MFA from Idaho State University,” said Livingston.

Livingston, a native of Germany, immigrated to the United States when she was 20. She acquired a Bachelor of Arts in foreign languages and did post-graduate work in French literature.  She graduated summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. As a child, drawing was her favorite pastime, but it wasn’t until Livingston retired from being a translator and office administrator that she came back to her art.

Davis Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information on gallery activities, contact Amy Jo Popa at 282-3341.
