Malaysian professor of dance to visit ISU

The presentation of Malaysian dance and music will be the focus of a guest lecture by Dr. Mohd Anis Md Nor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Idaho State University Oct 1-4.

Dr. Anis is a professor of ethnochoreology and ethnomusicology and the director of the Cultural Center (School of Performing Arts) at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. His current studies center on interfacing both traditional and contemporary dance performance among the people of Southeast Asia and Polynesia.

Dr. Anis’ visit to ISU is part of a scheduled lecture series given in conjunction with Smith College, Northampton, Mass., where he is serving a five-month fellowship. While in the United States, he will have the opportunity to visit many university dance programs throughout the country.
